That was a serious come on and win for Xiaoke Ying. Sometimes a cautious bet pays off.
Here come the finals.

(6,363 posts)It was a smart move.
Next two days should be fun, I like all three and cant guess the winner.
malaise
(269,054 posts)That said Xiaoke may use the same tactics and beat them both.
May the best person win. Fun tournament so far. We need this for some chill.

(65,076 posts)Not surprised somebody missed it, but they all got it wrong, with the same wrong answer.
That kid from Yale was who I thought would win. Made a big wager, though.

(269,054 posts)I didn't know the final answer tonight

(6,212 posts)it was a difficult final jeopardy. I was thinking further into the Midwest for the answer and came up blank. Never thought of Ohio.
ProfessorGAC
(65,076 posts)I immediately thought of Cleveland. I knew Garfield was buried there. Not sure why I knew that.
I would have changed my answer if I had thought of anything else, because I don't consider Cleveland Midwest.
My only other option was Madison, WI but couldn't imagine a former president was buried there, & I never heard of it.
Spent a fair amount of time with science professors at UofW.
So I stayed with my first instinct.
But, yes, I don't think eastern Ohio is the Midwest. At least not for the last 170 years.
CatMor
(6,212 posts)because Grover Cleveland spent many years living and beginning his political career in Buffalo where I live. Never thought of it for the answer.

Would love to know if he's part of the Somalia refuge population.

(62,423 posts)Where does the midwest begin? For some reason I seem to remember being told it started at the Illinois - Indiana line to the east. Over the years I have heard folks put Ohio and Michigan in the Midwest. One thing I thought was that the midwest states were all in the same time zone - the central.
I had no idea Garfield was buried in Cleveland. Thought of Madison and Lincoln (there is a Lincoln, Illinois also). Jefferson, Missouri crossed my mind also. But the only one I could think would land in Missouri was Truman and he's in Independence.
Thought it was a hard clue.
Here is hoping for a good final.

(269,054 posts)Damn this is a blowout - no way he's losing from here. He bet $5 for the daily double.
It's over. Super Smart Nabir.
ProfessorGAC
(65,076 posts)With the big lead, he didn't guess. Guessing is death on that show. Especially in double jeopardy.
