If your family celebrates Easter

What is on your Easter dinner menu? Were you able to shop for or find everything you needed? Will you be apart from family this year due to the virus?

We’re having roast beef because Mr. O doesn’t like ham.

Plus mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh asparagus, creamy lime-pear jello, hard rolls, and a blueberry topped purchased cheesecake.

And a $ donation to the local family mission..

Happy Easter, Everyone

But Kroger (or Whole Foods) brought us 4 bags of deli sliced ham instead. I’m good with anything.

I know I have some salmon in the freezer, some potatoes for roasting, and the garden has an abundance of spring lettuce. That and some wine.

Kids live in other states. Friends and I are truly self isolating. Normally I spend the entire morning from about 7:15 AM to 12:30 PM or so in church. Choir and hand bells for 3 services. This year 😪😪😪😪😪😪. So Zeus and I will do a long walk, have a quiet breakfast of fresh coffee and hot cross buns (currently waiting to go into the oven), kibble for Zeus, and then try to stay busy because I think tomorrow might be a bit tough.

Certainly doesn’t feel like a holiday, does it? Your salmon sounds delicious

Give Zeus an extra treat for me.

I’ve only been playing bells for about 8 years. Flute and piano all my life, so it feels very different to only be responsible for 2-4 notes. I have the E6 and F6 bells, and their corresponding flats/sharps.

We are a pretty small group - max of 12 when everyone is there. That limits us to 2-3 octave pieces. Some of our members have played other instruments, and a couple have only done bells, and have had to learn to read music as adults.

We usually have a gourmet, all home made, deluxe Easter family pot luck. My in-laws are top notch cooks, as is my child’s father.

I will make my homemade Key Lime Pie. (The filling’s just three ingredients y’all!) The main course will be baked wild salmon. We’ll have fresh asparagus, basmati rice and a cucumber tomato salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Freshly brewed iced tea will be our drink.

Happy Easter y’all! 🐣

We didn't really consider the holiday when we did our shopping at the beginning of the month.

I can bread and bake some thighs or drumsticks, maybe some roasted potatoes, and a green veg.

I suppose I could bake a dessert--maybe some brownies.

but usually in Florida with my parents. We were not able to travel this year, so we got a little gift for our daughter (who stopped believing in Easter Bunny last year). We will watch mass on tv, order BBQ (in Brooklyn), bake a cake (it's also my dad's birthday), and call him on zoom and celebrate for a short while.

Maybe watch a movie.

(being pretty much agnostic,) I try to get the hell out of town any way I can. Never seems to work, so I have to suffer through all the religious nuttery. This year it's just Mom and me--medical issues keeping the others away--but as the chief religious nut, she'll make it hell for me. This year I can't get away because of her medical issues, and my own--still nursing the broken leg.

It's the holiday I most hate.

Usually I go to my sister's house in Maine and my parents come in from New York, but none of us will be celebrating together. We aren't really religious, but we do like to gather for holidays.

We usually have a crown roast of pork or a pork tenderloin since my sister and I are not big ham fans. Accompanied by the usual mashed potatoes, asparagus, salad, butter lamb and rolls. I'm kind of sad that we won't be getting together, but I hope to see them all soon once this is all over.

Wishing you and your family a very happy Easter!
