I truly love "Pulp Fiction." I think it is one of the greatest movies ever made.
I just saw "Once upon a Time in Hollywood." It was an interesting movie to watch, and I really love Leonardo di Caprio, and Brad Pitt's ok. But it really didn't strike me as a great movie for some reason.
Then, it finally dawned on me why every Quentin Tarantino move I have seen since "Pulp Fiction" has disappointed me, and that's because of the massive presence of Samuel L. Jackson in "Pulp Fiction". His performance in that movie was the thing that took the movie to the pinnacle. It was well written, funny, clever, and had GOOD acting by Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, and John Travolta. That alone makes it an excellent movie. However, it was Samuel L. Jackson's role as Jules that made it one of the finest movies made.
Why he was only nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award is highly questionable and that he didn't win for this is beyond insane. He took "Pulp Fiction" over the top to the highest possible art form that was commercially successful and that actually resonated with so many people.
I have no idea why I am posting this totally random thought, but, what the heck!
Sorry for wasting your time!

I happen to agree about Jackson.
Take care, stay safe.

(666 posts)I love SLJ - Caveman's Valentine is wonderful.
However, I did not like Pulp Fiction. In fact, I don't like any QT movie I've seen. I cannot stand John Travolta or Bruce Willis or Uma Thurman (each has done one or maybe two good movies, that's it).
But I did like SLJ's character in Pulp Fiction, just not the movie itself.
