Can we talk purses in the age of the coronavirus?

Some of our purses are made to look faux-something, but are actually a plastic of non-breathing equivalent. Point is, they are non-porous and probably retain the coronavirus longer than is advised. I thought about this a couple of weeks ago and purchased a canvas purse that I can throw in the washing machine if necessary.

Even if my logic of selecting canvas over a plastic is wrong, the machine washable option sounds like a good preventative. I purchased a cheap purse so I can throw it into the machine after trips to the grocery stores, once a week.

If you're interested, found it on Amazon for $22.00 under the name Idailu Large canvas tote bag. There are different colors available, and some colors only come in small.

I only buy fabric purses, and I'm kind of a germaphobe anyway. Generally I'll put it in an old pillowcase, tie it shut, and wash on delicate. Then air dry. I sort of prop open the pocket for faster drying. This works very well for crocheted purses.

I'm not advocating that anyone else do this, but it works for me. I don't buy expensive purses anyway, so if I ruined one it wouldn't be devastating. So far I haven't ruined any.

But I'm probably going to order this bag. It's already in my cart. Just pausing for second thoughts.

I quit using one ten years ago. They’re heavy, and kinda gross.

I use a billfold (they have small cute ones, for women). If I need extra stuff some days, I have a small, washable tote bag I got for free.

...along with a small bottle of hand sanitizer, and my keys and a few tissues in the other pocket when I go to the grocery store. Leaving the purse in the car, covered up with my windshield sunblocker screen.

Have a Coach black leather wallet that's at least 20 years old. It even has a pocket big enough on the outside to securely hold my iphone.

If I'm going out like to a play or dinner or special occasion, I'll take a small purse.
