Filmed at my boy scout camp in northern NJ. As a camp counselor we scared the new kids about Jason still being in the pond and that children still go missing.

(29,047 posts)The movie is so violent and inappropriate that I can't suggest it to anybody. The director, Fulci, is legendary for his ultra-gory horror films (Zombie, The Beyond), but many of his fans couldn't stomach the way violence was depicted in that movie. It is not his most gore-filled movie, but it is his most depraved movie, in my opinion. That said, the story is a bit more complex than normally seen in slasher flicks.

(29,047 posts)Anchor Bay does a really good job of distributing the classic gore flicks. They don't cut the naughty scenes, and they clean up the footage really well.
Blue Underground is another great distributor, and they have an all region, special edition version of The New York Ripper, but I don't know what makes it special.
Shriek Show, a division of Media Blasters, also does a fantastic job on the gore classics.
Shameless put out a The New York Ripper Blu Ray, but I am not familiar with that distributor.
Many distributors put out both a cut version and an uncut version of the old gore films, but the cut versions seem to mostly be on VHS. I am not aware of any cut versions of The New York Ripper on DVD.
Don't watch it with anyone who respects you.

(47,675 posts)It was a really bad movie on all counts. The first guy to die was watching a chick in a skimpy cowgirl outfit (think ZZ Top here) flying across the ceiling while he was on a clear waterbed. Freddie punctured it from underneath and sliced him up, and then HE ended up in the waterbed (inside) and it wasn't punctured. Anything to make more money off of the franchise.
