People still aren't "getting it"

My husband went to the bank today (I told him to go to the drive thru but he said he had too many transactions).

He said they were busy, and there was a line. A woman in front of him in line turned around and immediately took two steps TOWARDS him and started talking about the coronavirus, isn’t it awful, etc. etc. He backed away but she kept getting closer! He kept backing away. Fortunately a window opened up and she was gone!

On TV last night the local reporters were interviewing bar patrons, asking them what they thought about the order by Gov. DeWine to close down restaurants. Clearly many unhappy people.... (to be expected) ....one woman said “I think it should be left up to the individual. I don’t keep a lot of food in my refrigerator and we eat out a lot.”

Um, honey, either we ALL take precautions or it’s pointless .... I don’t think this virus understands “individual freedoms” ... there’s always takeout .....

In Mason. 2 customers were fighting. One taken into custody. Serves them right, being in a Flea Market?

There needs to be a national coordinated response. All Schools should be closed and any other responses should be nationwide. If this does not happen then things will continue to be mess! Thanks Trump!

here, as if the virus wouldn't dare do its virusing on American soil. It appears a good percentage still think that.

needs rules and standards for all states.

This isn't just about individual ignorance - it's a lack of leadership (as you well know).

I'm SO angry.

Made up their minds then and closed them to facts. I see them making light of it like Bush looking for WMDs under his desk.

but this "individual freedom" bullshit is what will be our downfall... it ain't the "Wild West" in the 19th century anymore...

it's the same frustration I get when time after time on DU and elsewhere someone brings up Climate Change and Corporate farming and the need to ease our consumption of meat... and people respond, "you can't tell me what to eat" or "hey, glad you're eating less, more for me" the stupidity, selfishness and carelessness are disgusting

doesn't work so well in crowded cities.

Libertarians have a lot of trouble with this concept.

I don't know how to respond to your OP without getting political since it's against the lounge rules...but here we are with Hairplug Himmler (thanks Ferret ) and people like Nunes telling people not to worry, everything's under control, relax and go out and enjoy yourselves.

While medical and science experts are saying the exact opposite. Ugh.

14. HUGGED AGAINST MY WILL
Mon Mar 16, 2020, 03:58 PM

I live in a state so red it can be seen from space. Saturday I went to my favorite watering hole, no virus cases reported for the state at that time. I wanted to avoid the great unwashed masses so I sat at a small table outside. Plus there was live music. I am 71 yrs old and had a heart attack last year so I wanted to be careful. I had a baggie with some cleansing wipes that I used to wipe down the table and chair. I had my drink, listening to the music when a woman, in her mid 40s, I have know for many years came to say hello. She had ben sitting with a group of people that I knew were part of the local trump cult. When she got to the table I put my elbow up as touch/greeting. I apologized for not hugging because I might be at risk. She says "It's just an overblown cold hoax, we're good" and hugged me. I could not get away. I am certain I will surely die. Not from the virus but from the anger I feel for her invading my space and disregard my health concerns. Others at her table asked me to join them. I have nothing in common with the cultist so I went inside where it was not crowded at all. If I do get the virus, I intend to go to every trump cultist I know and lick their doorknobs.
