Saw "Call of the Wild" yesterday.... OMG AMAZING!

I know, it's not as real dog it's CGI but I fell in love with Buck.

i was one of many 7th graders who had to suffer through the Jack London Unit in English 101
Even did a big report on his life & Estate in Napa...lol

The movie is definitely "cleaned up" for the children ...not as violent and bloody as the book. But the re-write was well played and you feel soooooo deeply for the dogs and the people.

Well done!
Harrison Ford is a grumpy older version of himself

But BUCK steals the show Good DOG! (Wolf)

Revealed that because it's CGI, Buck was "played" by a human man. And Harrison had to pretend to hug and pet this human man as if he were a dog. Hilarious.

so I get it...Like when Mark Ruffallo has to wear the green suit for Hulk
There was an actual human as he ran his lines, THEN there was also a Dog Model, who was a rescue...(dammitt, gotta look that up!)

that breed does exist and Bucks intelligence is SOOOOO true to the Dogs I Know
it was So fucking goood
Id watch it again right now at home even though it ripped my heart & sould out <3

Maybe I'm too critical because I know dogs too well--their movements and mannerisms.

But, I can see that after watching more of it, it might grow on me.

Your recommendation might well get me to the theater.

I loved the book but I remember Buck being very mistreated/abused early on. I would like to take my 5 1/2 yo Grandson to see it but am concerned about the animal abuse scenes. Anyone have any thoughts on this? He's a very empathetic little boy.

but it *is* still hard to see ... him in the crate, hungry, no water...the one guy beats him only once, nothing like the description in the book...but it is gut wrenching.

I dont know that a 5 yr old could handle the movie as a whole... it's pretty deep and lots of implied death and sadness

I mean, I didn't cry my eyes out for nothing!

Never thought a movie could do it justice. I'll give it a chance though.

On Disney+, Togo is a fantastic dog sledding movie. I recommend it highly.

I saw the interview with Harrison Ford on CBS Sunday Morning and some clips and knew I just had to go see this. Didn't we all read this book as a child? I read it several times, but then I'm a dog lover.
