I had a ghost n my house last night

The cats woke me up after midnight.

As I lay dozing, I heard a woman's voice murmur something.

I thought "Did I really hear that?" and dozed off again.

A little while later I heard it again - a woman's voice - but I could not tell if it was outside the house or inside.

Then I heard it again! IT WAS INSIDE HE HOUSE!

Again a woman's voice murmuring something I could not make out.

I got up, and walked around the first floor.

I heard it again! IT WAS UPSTAIRS!!!!!

I grabbed a baseball bat and slowly made my way to the top of the stairs.

THEN I HEARD IT AGAIN!

The Voice said "Batteries low" "Change batteries now"

IT WAS THE SMOKE ALARM!!!!!!111111

My smoke alarms will only emit an annoying chirp until I change the batteries. Coincidentally, I’ve considered having a baseball bat handy for them too!

Too much Psychomagnotheric Slime to deal with if I smacked it with the bat.

With some regularity my will cats alert on the presence of an unseen stranger. They will awake from a sound sleep and pinpoint on the long, dark hallway, tails lashing to and fro and sometimes standing up on their hind legs to focus on something only they can see.

I label it a ghost because the incidents are unexplainable, but maybe it's just a mouse scurrying in the walls. Who knows, of course I can't see or hear anything, but it makes my blood run cold to see my cats behavior in the dark of night when I'm alone. I rely on my dog for protection, but she never reacts to whatever the cats are looking at.

But that's not nearly as creepy as a disembodied voice in the middle of the night.
