Then I am required to sit on the side of the tub and hold my hand just so, in order to guide the trickle down my hand so that he can either lick it from my fingers or from the tucked in washcloth.
He refuses standing water, and demands that I be actively involved when he drinks from the bathtub faucet, and since I worry about his kidneys being harmed by inadequate water, I accede to his demands.

(24,376 posts)I cant refer to him as My Roommate because he was so much more than that. He will be gone 16 years this coming summer and I still miss him every single day.
BB would carry a bone or a rawhide chew to the middle of the wall in the living room, and place it along the baseboard...(damn, I only wish I had made a video of him doing this) and when I say Place I mean just that...he would carefully select a spot along the floor and set the item down and proceed to bury it.
With imaginary dirt.
He would make the motion most dogs do when pushing dirt they have dug up out of a hole in the lawn, meaning he would look as if he is shoving dirt back over the item with his snout!
It was charming and bizarre at the same time! Here he was, standing at the center of the wall in the carpeted living room, pushing a pile of dirt only he could see, covering a rawhide chew up so no one could see it.
I watched him actually inspect his work and then walk away! Of course, there was no dirt and the toy is just sitting there, plain as day!
He was so utterly charming, and had so many funny and unique quirks that I could write a book on his antics.
My bud. My everlasting Beau Brummel. Wherever you are, old friend, I know you are making them smile.

(7,649 posts)My male roommate believes that he's not fed enough and will go dumpster diving in the kitchen trash can for human food. A few years ago, I placed a couple of bricks in the trash can to keep him from knocking it over. The bricks worked and kept him from knocking over the kitchen trash. Now, he's so desperate, he stands up and leans over the kitchen trash can and removes scraps of food with his front claws and paws. Every year, we are fat-shamed at the veterinarians at yearly check-ups.
My female roommate has a strict no-touching rule. The only acceptable place for any petting is only done at the food dish. As I crawl into bed and get all comfy, she jumps up on my side of the bed and walks across my feet to get to her side of the bed. I have to stifle my laughter because she always breaks her own no-touching rule when getting into bed.

(165 posts)My roommates (fur children) live in seperate detached bedrooms. Once when I entered the front yard, I called Hank and said, "Get your ball!" Hank ran over to the porch and tapped on the second step and looked at me. It was under that step. Another time I had the oldest locked in his private yard and the youngest pup (80 lbs. at 1 year old), ran to his yard and opened the garden gate to let him out! These 'roomies' are friendly and very loud. They don't want to bite you, just smell you. As they mature they are capable of climbing a 50" cattle panel fence. Will add 24" of chicken wire to the front yard fence soon and if that works (which it did for my neighbor who has 7 of these 'roommates'), I'll do the whole 4 acres.
