I liked watching doughnuts being made while I ate doughnuts.

(15,388 posts)I'm 47 now. Letters turned to email turned to Facebook friends. Last year, after various discussions on candy (apparently saltwater taffy isn't a thing there, and she was interested), we exchanged Easter baskets. We decided that America is more unique with its candy, but England makes the better chocolate. I'd send her some KK donuts, but I honestly don't like them and would think i was doing her a disservice though she and her husband and her parents enjoyed Marshmallow Peeps to my great surprise.

But Krispy Kremes do seem to get stale in rather short order, so eating them within a day or so of being made is best, I think.
Having said that, I havent had one in quite a while. I go through phases, where Ill eat one or two every day or so for a week and then not touch one for 3 months.
The English have some interesting foods that are difficult to find in the US, and Im sure we have tons of stuff that is never seen in the UK as well!

(23,730 posts)Grew up in the Boston area. Dunkin donuts were the bomb. When I was young, after church, my Dad would drive to the local DD and we would get a dozen to take home.

(5,810 posts)KK on the other hand is so hard to resist and I do resist thanks to a very low carb diet and pre-diabetes that is finally responding to a low carb diet. So no KKs for me. 😢 But I do remember how freakin good they are hot fresh off the conveyor belt after passing under the glaze waterfall. I remember watching the process at a very large KK in Atlanta back in the 60s....mesmerizing watching them go from raw dough, floating in hot oil, flipped once, then drizzled with glaze and popped into a box to carry home. The box could burn your legs if you werent careful. 😂😂😂
Maybe it is what you grow up loving that determines which kind of doughnut (donut) you prefer??
Different strokes for different folks. Lets all try to get along. 😉🥰😂

(23,730 posts)Certainly wasn't meant to indicate I couldn't get along with everyone. Said nothing negative about KK.

(5,810 posts)Its just that people tend to fall into camps one way or the other. KK or DD. Some of them are downright militant about it. LOL The way I see it, arent we glad we live in a world where KK is on one corner, drive a few blocks and there is a DD??
