Watching a NCIS-NOLA marathon off of recordings right now. Might switch off to something else later.
Happy New Year. Will probably nod off before midnight. PST zone here. I don't drink so toast one for me.

(35,730 posts)No jams but comfy clothes. Four cats and since it's New Year's, various cans of cat food on the table from which I periodically fill their bowls. They all come around for a munch or two. Seafood medley! Roast beef with liver! Roasted chicken! They've been eating all evening, truth be told. After each of their munch fests, they sit around smacking their lips and licking their paws.
But hey, it's New Year's!
Now me--I'm watching all the Netflix that usually gets nixed when a certain someone is not away on a business trip.

Chang's bowls with sticky rice and veggie egg rolls, then go out and watch fireworks from the front yard, have some ice cream for dessert, and greet the new year with joy. Puppies are on the couch, snuggling with us, and puddy tat is behind my head. Life is good.

(24,766 posts)who became quite agitated at hillbilly trumphumper neighbors' crazy loud long fireworks show..not over yet, but he's settling.
Hubby and grown daughter checked on the 3 horses in the pasture. They seem to be becoming inured to the loud noises and flashbangs and are ok, thank god.
I presume the hens are ok. Someone should prolly go to the coop and check on them.
Enjoyed watching the fireworks from the hot tub. Quiet uncommonly rainy NYE. Good music selection playing on my phone.
Comfy clothes.
Trying to stay up till midnight on the west coast. Bottle of Prosecco chilling. Sharing a bowl of legal weed together!
That's about it!

I been getting invited out each recent holiday, but congratulated myself on choosing to stay put. Good job!
Later today--black eyed peas, greens and a pecan wood smoked kolbasi steamed in 'beah'. 😄

BTW, I'm getting another foster dog today...Am I on the verge of yet another foster failure?

(22,270 posts)Listened to a couple of podcasts (Welcome to Night Vale and Sawbones), cleaned up emails, played some Farmville, read some DU, practiced a new crochet pattern I am trying to master, ate leftover chili and had 1 glass of wine. After I went to bed I read for a while.
I put my beans on to soak last night. I thought I had a container of dried black eyed peas, but didn't. Then I thought we had a can of them, but it turned out to have a sell by date from 2007, so I was hesitant to use them. However I do have a container of 15 bean soup mix which contains blackeyed peas so I decided that counts and started the soaking. We will have them tonight with cornbread.
Lunch will probably be more chili. It was a really good batch, too.
hermetic
(8,310 posts)Yeah, you might want to give those a miss. I am quite certain your bean mix will suffice. Don't forget the greens, so there will always be 'green' in your wallet this year.
I've got the bepeas in a can and will make corn bread and spinach. And spend the afternoon on the couch with a good book. And cats.

Life in the fast lane. Me, my husband, and Buster snug as a bug in a rug.

(13,058 posts)We retire early to bed as it gets dark early now &we are early birds. Unfortunately starting at 6pm the fireworks went off, and continued to 2am. Our yorkie was freaked out by all the booms. I was not amused. Anyhoo, hope 2020 will be the year we as a country get back to normal with Biden as POTUS.

(11,564 posts)except that I never wear pajamas. Oh yeah...and the police coming to my door at about 10:30.
A guy had been picked up about a block from here, going through unlocked cars, and they were checking to see if anything had gone missing from ours. But here is the thing about that...
They never asked us to go out and check. They took an inventory, then compared it to our mental list. Amazing, right
Short list, as I never keep anything valuable in the car, and leave it unlocked so I am not out a $300 deductible for a smashed window.
All in all, a pretty positive start to the year. Except for the guy in jail - I bet his New Year started with a huge amount of suck.
Happy New Year to everyone here!!!!
