(22,037 posts)I went to the local bakery to get a pie or cake to take to my sister's today. The choice was pumpkin pie or NY cheesecake.
My wife ordered the cheesecake.

(32,006 posts)I love pumpkin pie.
My son the last couple of years has brought pie over for the holidays that he made with a kabosha, or Japanese pumpkin. Its really good. Just a wee bit different in taste from regular pumpkin but delicious just the same.

(25,943 posts)I got nuttin gainst punkin, but its just my wife and me at home today, and pecan won the coin toss.
Speaking of pecans...has anyone noticed the outRAGEous price of pecans in stores? We make a cheese ball every Christmas, but this year we opted for chopped walnuts instead of pecans.

(55,014 posts)rumor is China buys 'em all. we have a couple ancient trees and had a small harvest (half a 5 gallon bucket?) this year but I am just too lazy to shell them for pies so bought from the store, they didn't seem much higher than last year, especially compared to pistachios.
