After awhile, they quit. He won that round, but the cats won many others.

They defer to the dog all the time.
Somehow, the 2 now, (plus the 2 oldies now deceased) always acted like they thought doggie was in charge.
This despite all 5 of them being spoiled beasties!

He'd do some murmuring, maybe whine a little.
Then he'd figure, "Well, I warned you" and would just curl onto the bed.
Up to kitty to adapt to getting laid on, or move.
Can't see him taking more than a few seconds b4 it became "My bed!"

That would be equivalent to me seeing a rattle snake in my bed.........
