Sure, the other stories are needed to set it up. But it always keeps me engaged, and the devotion and sacrifices of the rebels evoke strong emotions within me.

(38,958 posts)and the other 2 in the first series years ago, but after that they seem to me to be more and more like Hallmark Christmas movies . The same plot over and over, with a slightly different cast and setting.

I agree the storyline is incredible and compelling but the movie seems to capture the feel of the Star Wars universe just before "A New Hope" perfectly.

(47,577 posts)Visually, I really like the current trilogy. Story-wise, not so much. Particularly, I didn't like how the second movie said fuck you to the first movie, making me worried that the 3rd movie will spend most of its time fixing the 2nd movie instead of being a victory lap for the entire nine-movie series. However, it didn't "ruin Star Wars for me."
That said, Rogue One is easily my favorite of the entire series.
