first time i saw them i sorta freaked out. i figured that was what they might be, as they were on a plum tree covered w aphids. but i had to put one in a jar just to make sure, cuz they are evil looking little bastards.

There was a post on FB the other day warning people about pods they might find on their Christmas trees. That some of them might actually be full of praying mantis! I'd pay extra for a tree like that put it in a screened enclosure to enjoy the show
