I prefer to think of it as free Pay-Per-View. Chan790 Jun 2012 #6
Sometimes they only make you watch a portion of the ad before you can advance. HopeHoops Jun 2012 #7
I use the Adblock extension for Firefox and don't see ads on Stewart or Colbert. Ptah Jun 2012 #8

Not that I know of. If you try to fast forward to another point in the program, it plays ads. You can't drop out of them without losing the entire program.

I guess just bear it, the ads subsidize the programming. I admit it gets annoying, since they show the same thing over and over. How many times does one need to see Alex Trebek hawking Wheat Thins???

If someone knows how, please let us all know.

Go to the kitchen and make yourself a snack. Or, throw in a load of laundry, play with the cat, start a shopping list.

I'm lazy when it comes to fast-forwarding.

I mean I usually watch on Hulu just because I get a wider diversity of ads; but not by much. Also, it allows me to aggregate all my online TV viewing into one queue.

I mean I can watch what I want whenever I want and I don't have to remember to DVR it.

Usually there will be a small text box in one of the corners that says something like "you can skip the rest of this ad in (x) seconds". If it doesn't, you're pretty much stuck with the dumb-ass ad, but fortunately they only last 30 seconds. I just hit mute until they're over.
