If so, what song do you like to perform? (Or what song did you perform?)I think this is about my speed.

Yes! Once... on a dare. I was drunk. I'd never do it again. I was awful. | |

Hey, everyone seems to be having a great time, except maybe Andy, so isn't that all that matters?
Rorey
(8,445 posts)Yeah. Ok.

(42,862 posts)For the purpose of this discussion... I'd say yes. It's in public (even if among colleagues) so that does require some nerve or talent.

(86,765 posts)to our bar in the tiny town I lived in. We were having a Hallowe'en party and the bar owner hired some guy to come and do a karaoke show thing. It was lots of fun because we were all involved in groups and being really silly. Otherwise, I'll pass.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)Although I've seen some very talented singers who take it very seriously.
Oddly enough, even the talentless hacks are fun (even if it makes me wince and grimace) as long as I can see that they're having a good time and giving it their best shot.

(3,268 posts)My singing is so bad I play guitar in the shower instead!

(33,643 posts)My favorites are probably Prince - Kiss (yeah, I can do that falsetto) and INXS - Need You Tonight (much more my natural range) ... but I've done at least a couple dozen other songs, alone and with friends or my ex-wife.
I can rock the hizzy ...
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)Kiss is a great song. I think I might be able to do that one.

More power to you if the latter.
Aristus
(66,446 posts)It's easier to do it sober. Switching from Muppet voice to Muppet voice can be tricky...

(42,862 posts)... I have never heard them performed as karaoke before. I'll have to check the songbook list and maybe get one of my brave girlfriends to try.

(42,862 posts)I also have a reasonable price to publicly "humiliate" myself. I'm not above having my friends laugh at me (and with me) for some nachos, poppers, onion-rings, and few free drinks and ride home.
Wawannabe
(5,676 posts)Janis Joplin - Mercedes Benz.
Nirvana - Where did you sleep last night?
Pat Benetar - Hit me with your best shot.
Amy Winehouse - Rehab
Among others...
On edit: First time I ever sang karaoke was after moving to WA. Double shot of Tequila gets you loose enough to give it a go!
