Here in Europe, we switched back last weekend (Oct. 26/27).

We survived. Or, if we didn't, somebody forgot to tell us.

5. I hate the short daylight hours at this time

of year. From the day it gets datk at 5 pm I look forward to daylight until 7 pm. When it reaches 9 pm again I am delighted.

Winter is not my favorite season. But when relatives who live in warmer states ask why I have not joined them I praise the change of seasons in the north to avoid arguing with them about the conservative politics in their states.

6. I actually love the short days and long nights.

I'm a bit of an introvert, and definitely an indoors kind of guy. The winter months suit my temperament much better than the summer. And the politics of the Southern states are why I resolve never to move there, no matter how old I get.

8. I would rather endure a blizzard than a

hurricane. I can feel safe inside as the wind howls around me outside. Just don't get caught on the road.

But I love the carefree feeling of summer. No need to bundle up in layers. Lots of sunshine into the evening hours. Colorful scenery in flowers, birds, lawns, and trees instead of the bland whiteness and dirty gray of winter against bare trees.

I like to get out and about and am grateful that I still can as I get older. But it is so much easier and more pleasant in summer. I am just not eager to go to political environments where the weather is warm but the politics are colder than northern winters.

9. I'm with you.

I also hate bright sunny days, lol. Well, not hate, but I get antsy and edgy when there are too many sunny days in a row. I'd be miserable in Arizona or New Mexico. I'd move to Seattle, but the prospect of the coming 9.0 Cascadia earthquake puts the kibosh on that.

I visited relatives there. But the desert scenery was too bleak for me.

I was there when McCain died and encountered people who were so RW by then that they disagreed with me, a NY Dem, when I said the nation had lost a good man of integrity. I usually did not agree with him but I did respect him. He was THEIR Senator thst they had voted for several times, but all they could see in his last days was that he was not a Trumpist.

A human climate in the desert colder than my NY winter weather.

My other relatives are in SC, GA, and FL. Too many hurricsnes and RWers there for me.

No offense intended to our DU posters in those states. I have visited those states and met some great people. I saw beautiful and interesting sites. But I am too old to adapt to the different political climates there..

11. The Sunday we "fall back" is great.

You get that extra hour and the day seems to move so slowly. Problem is, that first Monday also drags and it seems like it will never be time to go home.

12. Already did it once and several time changes since.

Left the UK on Oct. 26, set clocks back one hour the first night on the ship. Since then we've set back three more hours, and another will be dropped tonight.

We still have to do again before we reach Fort Lauderdale so we will be on Eastern Time. I'm not sure if we will do it the night between Haiti and Florida. I think so, since I think the islands (St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, and Haiti) we're visiting are all GMT - 4:00 hours.
