I've just joined Costco and wanted to know what experience anyone has had buying meat at Costco. Was it good or bad? How did it compare with meat from other grocers? Better? Worse? The Same?
Thanks for the feedback.

(7,432 posts)The selection always looks like the meat is high quality for a low price. Disclosure: I'm not a meat eater.

(3,473 posts)The prices certainly are cheaper. I'll buy a whole boneless pork loin and slice it myself, then package it and freeze it. Their steaks are pretty thick, those can easily be cut in half for two portions.

They have a pre-cooked turkey breast sans any nitrates or other fillers that I buy regularly. Very good quality and only $3.99/pound.

(10,874 posts)When we had two teenagers at home, we would buy a half-beef. Now we can't eat that mush, so we buy most of our meat at Costco. The one exception is pork butts- theirs are too well trimmed, and makes poor pulled pork because of that. We buy those at the local restaurant supply store.

2 to a blister pack, thick enough to slice across into fillets
They are sealed in, and you cut the packs apart before freezing
