My tortie seems to think it's necessary when I'm sound asleep. Fun.

I've gotten to the point where I'm afraid to roll over anymore. I've got four cats.....a mom and her three adult "kittens". The kittens (they'll always be "the kittens", I guess) are about 18 months old. Mom is super snuggly and loving, but the kittens won't allow human contact. They will, however, sneak onto my bed after I'm asleep. Sometimes they'll take ownership of my bed before I get in it, and then I have to maneuver around them so I don't disturb them. I'm not sure why I think I need to appease them, but I do.

Because it's their world and we're merely living in it. I've spent years of my life in some sort of discomfort (muscle cramp, bladder about to burst, etc) from not wanting to disturb a sleeping cat on my lap or squished in the corner of my queen sized bed. We're just here to serve them...

Those were the dog years, and also the years during which my (now ex) husband claimed he was allergic to cats. He was not, which was demonstrated when he had no problem tolerating these four cats living in the house and even sleeping with him.

So now I guess I am forced to make up for lost time being owned by cats. I've spent a lot of money on supplies and toys and cat trees and pet doors and their vet costs, but they're very entertaining, and it's going to be nice to have their company when my son and his family move out in the next few weeks.

My biggest fear is about what would happen to them if they outlive me. Cuz you never know.

lap, you don't have to get up to do anything. All in good time, the cat will leave and you can go about your day.
