each car brand had a reputation for a history of known failures that were common. The ones I vaguely recall are Ford for U-joints and valve noise, GM for engine valves and Chrysler for transmission failures. Studebaker was a story all it's own.

It's a whole new world today with cars......

Modern cars all look pretty much the same to me. Aerodynamic, or looking like a huge running shoe. I miss the makers' distinct characters.

My father used to say his two biggest mistakes were buying an Edsel... and selling it.
