Why not? People eat sesame seeds, why not pumpkin seeds? The problem I find is buying pumpkin seeds that are not in the husks. My grocers only have the David variety that expect you to consume or spit out the seed covers. Anybody know any other brand?

(23,334 posts)Wash them and toss them in a little avocado oil, season with sea salt and bake them until they're golden and delicious. It's super easy although a little time consuming. I save the pumpkin guts for my chickens. Treats for everyone!
ETA: grocery stores with bulk items often sell them.

(23,334 posts)so they're lightly crunchy. I would imagine they'd add fiber although I don't know that for sure. When I buy them at the grocery store in the bulk section instead of making them, they come in the shells and I eat them that way.

(7,399 posts)store and also online. Even Amazon has them. I have loved them since I was a kid. They come already roasted or you can get them raw and roast them yourself. Just mix them together with some olive oil and salt and roast them on whatever pan you prefer.
I'm not sure they are actually a diet snack however. Depends on how many you eat I suppose.

(36,280 posts)I often see pepitas in Mexican(-American) stores, and on the snack rack even in gas stations.
Many years ago, I had some richly spiced pepitas from an all-nut vendor in the Cordova Mall in Pensacola. I have never found any as good since, and don't even remember the name of the store !

(4,483 posts)you should not be snacking. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. It's too easy to lose track of snacks, plus adults do not need snacks. Toddlers? Yes. Adults? No.
If you want to eat pumpkin seeds, incorporate them into a meal so you can keep track of what and how much you are eating.
