Have you watched Rectify? It's a few years older, I just watched a few months ago. Wow. Starts out slow for the first few episodes, and then really takes off. Incredible writing and acting.

The Durrells in Corfu! I am slow sometimes!
ALSO, I read that Series 2 of BG will not be filed this year. Of course, 2020 is only 3 mos away!
Jed Mercurio, creator and writer of the hit BBC drama Bodyguard, has confirmed that a second series could well be on its way. Although the show has not yet been officially greenlit for a second season by the BBC, Mercurio confirmed that he is in conversation with the broadcaster about a renewal.Jun 12, 2019

Heres Everything to Know About Bodyguard Season 2, Maam
Will David Budd be back?

Between Richard Maddens eyes and all the times he made you melt with the blurt of maam, Bodyguard season 1 was a wild ride. The series, which premiered last August on the BBC before gracing your Netflix account with its presence in October, left viewers wanting more of Sergeant David Budd (Richard). In the heart-stopping finale, Budd faces his greatest mission yet: getting himself out of a suicide vest while trying to convince authorities (i.e., his coworkers) that hes still the good guy. If you held your breath for as long as you did watching the premiere, you are not alone.
First things first: The show actually hasnt been renewed.
Both the BBC and Netflix have not officially renewed the show, but if numbers are any indication, things are looking up. From the 10.4 million viewers who tuned in for the finale on the BBC (the most-watched BBC program in 10 years) to a 92 percent (and Certified Fresh) rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the right thing to do is give the fans what they want, right?
Richards recent Golden Globe win for Best ActorTelevision Series Drama is also a good sign that the show still has legs.

It hasn't been renewed yet for a 2nd season. After they decide to renew, it will then have to go through production. Doubt we'd see it before December 2020. The article mentions 18 months to 2 years.

(20,692 posts)8. Not to mention, it's not a given that Richard Madden will
Renew his contract, either. He shares a conversation w Amy Adams about the emotional toll it took to live through the shoot. He said. "At that point I was just trying to get through it."
