They've nursed back to health, visit regularly, and are welcome in the house.

I used to do the same thing up at my aunt and uncle's camp, except it was a lot of chipmunks and eventually they would crawl right up on me and let me pet them. It was my favorite thing to do up there. I felt like they were all my little friends. They are much less skittish than squirrels.

When she lived in northern Wisconsin, we'd sit on her deck, and the chipmunks would come around when we had peanuts, and they'd accept them from us.
They even would let us pet them, their belly fur is SOOOO soft.

As long as we didn't make any sudden moves, they liked us.

have three that come around that we feed peanuts to. Two of them will take them from our hand, one won’t. We’ve never tried to pet them though. I miss them over the winter, but they always come back in the spring. I’m sure two of them are the same ones from last year because this spring they would immediately take peanuts from our hand.
