(25,343 posts)I wonder why they put the little kitten in a tub of water?
Kitten was adopted from the Humane Society.
The only reason to bathe a kitten are fleas and poop. And they're supposed be rinsed, not put in a tub.

(146,316 posts)I followed my normal pattern for introducing new kittens to our menagerie. I brought kitty into the house and gently dropped her on the rug in the living room.
Our Beagle Basset mix, Dude, was immediately interested in the little ball of fur that had just appeared, and trotted over. He sniffed the kitten thoroughly to figure out what sort of thing it was. Then, he flipped it over on its back with his nose, and licked it vigorously on it's little belly.
Kitty flailed its paws around and mewed. Dude then began to flea the little cat with his short front teeth. When he was satisfied that kitty was vermin-free, he plopped down on the floor next to it. The kitten got up, walked over to Dude, and then laid on the floor next to the dog and went to sleep.
And so, we had a new critter in our house. Dude did a good job of mothering the little kitty. We described these events to the veterinarian when we took the new kitty for a first checkup. The vet immediately clipped the kitty's sharp little front claws to keep Dude's eyes safe from flailing kitty paws.

(12,389 posts)None of the home cures seemed to help much. For three days our cat sat with her and licked her from head to toe until the smell was gone.

Tomato juice will remove the skunk smell, even though your dog will probably fight it.

Tomato juice doesn't work well at all (and makes a mess).
Skunk Off (a commercial product) also works.
