Are the leaves changing colors yet? Then we are driving down to N.C. where it’s been in the 90s.

3. It's now 49F at 6:30 pm in Michigan with frost warnings north of me. I'm always torn about fall.

Fall is my favorite season in and of itself because nothing can beat the soft, golden sunlight illuminating the glorious fall foliage, the sound of rustling leaves in the wind and the earthy smell of the fallen leaves crunching under my feet; heavenly. However, it's a harbinger of my least favorite Michigan season, winter. Life is full of little trade-offs, I guess, sigh...

I was a little worried about what kind of weather we will encounter up in the Leelanau Peninsula, next weekend. The weather forecast is not sounding encouraging. No frost but a good chance for rain.

I grew up in Charlevoix so I always check the weather there. It's forecast to be in the 20's, but here in Lansing, the low is supposed to be only around 40. The foliage should be gorgeous in Leelanau next weekend. I love it up there. Hopefully, it'll be warmer near the big lake than in places inland. They're saying around 60, which isn't too bad. Even though it's better when it's sunny, I've found that the leaves are gorgeous even when it's rainy. Have fun! I envy you. Are you going to be checking out any wineries when you're there?

My best friend/honorary sister is a writer who lives in San Francisco. She's got several events scheduled for readings, signings and other 'author' activities. Tuesday we are in Lansing (or East Lansing - I forget). Thursday in Holland and then Friday we head up north. There's another signing in Traverse City, Friday night and then we get Saturday to do the tourist stuff. Sunday is another big, multi author (all female) event in Northport, and then back home on Monday.

The event in Holland includes a tour of the New Holland Distillery. I am really looking forward to that.

It sounds exciting. Where in Lansing is she going to be? Maybe I can check it out. Have fun and safe travels!

I guess they'd be considered in the zombie/horror genre. My favorite description of the 'Ashley Parker' series she wrote is, it's Buffy meets the Walking Dead. She's gotten some pretty good reviews.

The East Lansing gig is Tuesday from 6-8 at Holden Hall. The info on the itinerary she sent just lists it as a "talk". Maybe some sort of student writer's club. Just a guess. All I do know is her current agent is really working hard, for her.

The event in Northport is called 'Books, Babes and Booze' and includes 4 other authors. The list is Dana Fredsti (my friend), Barbara Stark-Nemon, Alyssa Alexander, Meika Usher and Lyssa K. Adams. I'm really looking forward to a great night of cocktails and intellect. Given the demographics of that part of Michigan, I suspect politics will be something to be avoided.

4. We didn't make it out of the 50's, in my part of Michigan

Down into the low 40's, tonight. Things are supposed to warm up, into the 60's, starting tomorrow.

We're driving up to the Leelanau Peninsula, next week, for some author events/book signings. I hope the weather forecast changes because 50's and rain doesn't make for a very scenic drive.

it stayed dry. The apartment complex I live in offers free heat in the winter. It's great for my utility bills come January, but they haven't turned the heat on in the building yet so it's chilly. I've had at least 2 cats parked on me every time I sit down.

Seems like winter has been reduced to just cold and rain, and that I also do not like.

winter seems just right. Last winter there were only 2 days that I needed to clean snow off my vehicle and I can handle that! The fall and spring seasons here are delightful! It was 57 this morning when I drove into town and ran into some fog in the river bottom area. I actually turned on the heat in my car though we're still running the air in our apartment. Go figure!

No relief in sight:

High today: 93
Low tonight: 73

They keep forecasting cooler weather, but it hasn't happened. Our highs have been in the 90's and lows in 70's.

We haven't gotten down to 69 in months!

We celebrate when nights are no longer in the 70's.
