B-17 (Nine-O-Nine) Crashed in Conneticut

At least two people have died and more were seriously injured in a fiery plane crash at Bradley International Airport Wednesday morning.

A B-17 bomber crashed about 10 a.m., bursting into flames and sending up a large plume of smoke that could be seen for miles. Sources say it crashed into a shed as it was trying to land.

While there is no official word on the number of deaths, sources say at least two people have died and three others have critical injuries.

Laura Nolan said she was driving east on Route 20 when she saw the World War II-era plane flying unusually low.

The one that crashed was a late war plane that didn't see combat, which was painted up as '909'. The real 909 was scrapped in the late 40s.

Still war weary or not they where made in the 40’s for the war.

I grew up in Dayton Ohio. I was born on Wright Patterson AFB in 1946.

I have been to the Air Force Museum from the 50’s when it was a small museum in Fairborn on the base till last year.

I saw the Memphis Belle being restored.

I have been building models and researching these planes for 70 years.

I would like to see them exist whole for as long as possible.

Used to be known as “Chuckie” named after a former owner’s wife. Not sure what they call it now.

It flew over the house many times. I wonder if it is the same one? May the crew rest in peace.

I went to the Sheboygan county airport to see it, the B-24 "Witchcraft," and a 2-seat P-51 Mustang.

Those engines made music.
