one day and became a thing. Her paintings now sell for $20,000. She used housepaint and painted on wood. There was a movie about her a few years back called Maudie. My parents used to have one. As a kid i used to draw on it with a pencil. We told that to the auction guy and he almost fainted. Lead pencil erases really well on thick housepaint so there was no damage. In fact my parents hung it over the sink in the kitchen. Her and her husband's (not a nice guy all the time) little shack, that she painted all over too, is in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax.

Some of her stuff is very cool. I used to paint in what I called "Grandpa Moses" style but now I'm trying to teach myself how to really paint. Occasionally I'll do a painting in my old style. Especially when it includes people.
