Vintage Recipes: Margaret Chase Smith's Blueberry Cake and strawberry punch

Margaret Chase Smith was a long time family friend and my mother (who got these recipes from my grandmother, who got them from MCS) made these for us when we were kids.

Margaret Chase Smith Punch

One package of *frozen* strawberries.

2 quarts cold ginger ale.

Ice

(that simple but it is soooooooo good)

We had it at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

and this...

The frosting was good old fashioned whipped cream with *real* sugar and a dash of *real* vanilla extract.

My Grandmother used to hold Fall fund raisers for MCS at her Camp (with MCS in attendance) - fresh sweet cider and doughnuts.

You can't get any more old school than that for an October day in Maine.

How far we have tumbled down the Rabbit Hole

The Blueberry cake.... yummies.

I love blueberries. We always used to go and pick them when I was a kid. The next day was blueberry pancakes. Trust me, there is nothing like fresh blueberries.
