For me it's ginger beer. Burns the hell out of my lips, but oh, so good.

I'm one of those for whom cilantro tastes like soap. So don't tell me there's only a little cilantro in the dish. Only a few soap chips is still not acceptable to me.
I am not allergic to anything, lucky me.

I can't eat any sugar free candy without bad stomach pains except Werthers Original sugar- free hard candies.

(54,397 posts)As in Bill Clinton-style serious cholesterol issues. But I love cheese, and it was torture to avoid it.
My GP in Dallas turned me onto a statin supplement that brought my LDL reading from 90 (for heart patients, 70 is considered the "do not exceed" level). It brought me down to 60 withing a month. Better living through chemistry!
The unpleasant reaction I get to too much LDL clogging my arteries is death, so I try to keep my consumption of such foods down to a very moderate level.

(63,221 posts)Before everyone goes off on me thinking I am one of those gluten free phony nutcases, I have to say I have not given them up yet.
However, when I tried the Keto diet in April and May, and did not have any grains/starches, I noticed that after about 2 weeks, all my shoulder, neck, low back, stomach, knee, etc. pain went away completely. I thought that the pain was just a natural side effect of getting older, but it was pretty amazing.
I am thinking that it is wheat/bread/pasta because those are the things I am the most addicted to. I am planning to go back on a healthy moderated, lower carb (less extreme) diet in Sept where I can have small amts. of brown rice or potatoes (GF) but eliminate anything w/ gluten and see if the inflammation goes away again. It will serve me right if I am gluten intolerant since I have spent plenty of time making fun of my old boss who was a GF fanatic.
We'll see. If the experiment works, I will report back. But if the elimination of those foods can erase all pain, it may very well be worth it.
