I just saw this photo and it reminded me of the Delaware and Maryland beaches that our family visited long ago. I remember traveling across the Chesapeake Bay on a ferry with our car and the drive to the beach with the smell of salt water all the way. I remember lying down on a canvas mat to surf the big waves, tumbling off with my eyes open and looking at what was beneath the water, then crawling back to shore with my mat to do it all over again.

(130,974 posts)We used to visit Rehoboth regularly, before marriage, and during my daughter's first summer (my folks rented a condo so they could see her every weekend.)
I haven't been over there recently, more calm here in southern MD!

(8,361 posts)I haven't been to the Chesapeake Bay area for at least 10 years. I enjoyed some Maryland crab cakes at a restaurant on the bay.

(130,974 posts)and my daughter + family just bought a house near me with access to a bigger beach that they visited last week; my grandson caught his first fish from the dock @ their house.
VERY happy here, and some good crab cakes nearby.
