We hit this local creek known for bass muskies pan fish. So we planted our asses on this rock wall by the dam and we were catching a lot off the wall sitting . I said fellas Im doing ok I didnt wanna wade cuz my sciatica but Im better. Going back work better so I said yesterday lets wade over to this island. This time year were in cargo shorts and sandals and I was looking at these deep pools on other side I cannot stay stationary.
The boys awesome ok dad will get the bag dad do you want me carry your rod. No Im ok Im not a cripple fellas but they care. So we wade over to this island and I plant myself on this rock in stream feet getting wet. Were catching bass pan fish rock bass bass sunnies bluegill. So I stand up off this rock this young couple as well waded out to this island and they had dogs. And the one pup came to visit the boys and me. She was getting pet we got wag wags, she was oh I made new friends.
All of a sudden I had two fifteen year olds on this rock where I was with dad. And this female Rottweiler pit bull mix I said what is wrong loudly over roar of the dam. My one son said dad snake it was water snake the boys make me smile.

I remember very well those water snakes in the ponds of PA when we did the same thing with our boys when they were young.
Sounds like you got a couple of real fine fellas there. Good job, Dad.

(2,945 posts)lightswitch for the barn was a rattlesnake. Curled up real tight and blending into the still dark morning and the rocks. It took some work to get it in the bucket as the grabber grabbed the back half of the body, leaving the front half free to keep trying to escape the bucket. Finally got the lid on and when light dawned drove it up the street and released it. Never made a noise, but my body was still shaking even after I contained him and was carrying him off. I hate snakes but the incident proved to me that I could still rise above my fear. (BTW: sitting on rocks is not good for sciatica, just saying.)
