Are there any good original flicks out there right now?

I'm kind of getting tired and bored with superheroes and sequels. I feel like I'm missing out on some good original movies out there but there's so much out there that I am not sure where to start.

Does anyone have any good recommendations? I generally like comedies and action movies.

Booksmart - a teen comedy made for adults that is very, very funny (97% on Rotten Tomatoes)

The Farewell - a drama about a family dealing with a grandmother dying of cancer (100% on Rotten Tomatoes)

The above two films are only playing in larger cities. The next film is playing pretty much everywhere.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Tarantino's latest film starring Leonard DiCaprio and Brad Pitt (85% on Rotten Tomatoes)

I feel like a lot of Tarantino's recent films are a mixed bag but this one looks like a winner.

I've heard a lot about Booksmart. But there are no indie theaters where I live. I'll check that out when it's on VOD.

And I have a love/hate relationship with Tarantino movies. I'm not necessarily a fan.

A lot of credit goes to the sound, cinematography, and sense of atmosphere that the film provides. You really feel like you're drawn back into Los Angeles, 1969. And then there is the acting, by the usual massive Tarantino ensemble. DiCaprio and Pitt are both particularly hilarious.

They are not recent but very good if you have not seen them.

No Country for Old Men.
The Counselor.
Sicario.
The Magnificent Seven. (Denzel Washington)
Steve Jobs. (Michael Fassbender)
Conspiracy. (HBO movie)
Deadwood. (HBO series)
