I'm going to hide from the heat and stay indoors this weekend. Can anyone recommend a good tv show on Amazon Prime, Hulu or Netflix?

(8,144 posts)of Ozark. Southland on Hulu. PS for anyone with on demand laugh all you want, but Chicago Med has
the best roles for Asian, LatinX, and black actors. Its a good hospital soap opera.

(2,177 posts)finished 19 seasons of Midsomer Murders. Another fabulous detective mystery. Surprising how they walk around and solve crimes without carrying a gun. The other interesting thing is there always seems to be some kind of celebration going on in all these small towns. Loved the show.

(1,375 posts)but I heard that it starts to decline after season 4 and the last season, especially the ending, was horrible so I've held off on watching.

(25,862 posts)but didn't get past the first episode of the second season.
Like so many series, it became totally dumb and unbelievable.
That is just my opinion, and I know that others will disagree.

The Keepers...Netflix...murder mystery of a Baltimore nun in the 1960s
The Staircase...Netflix...an author is accused of killing his wife and goes to trial
Fyre Fraud...Hulu...Fyre Festival con
Fyre: The Greatest Party that Never Happned...Netflix...another Fyre Fesival doc
Anducted in Plain Sight...Netflix...young girl is kidnapped by family friend
Sour Grapes...Netflix....fine wine fraud
If you have avcess to HBO, the recent series "Chernobyl" was excellent. It was a 5 or 6 episode series about the days after the Chernobyl meltdown. I'm going to rewatch it soon.

"Silicon Valley" is excellent. Of course, I did my own Silicon Valley startup company so I can relate to almost all of the plot points and story lines and the jokes... so maybe it's just for me.

(1,375 posts)Any of the Marvel series on Netflix
Trouble in Paradise if you like british police dramas, also Doc Martin and broadchurch
If you like Steven King then Haven is another option besides Castle Rock
Black Mirror is good and the episodes are stand alone so you can start and stop at anytime
I haven't watched it yet but American Vandal looks like a good mockumentary along with documentary now!
Happy! is just, weird, but it has Patton Oswald so, I watched it
On Hulu
The Act is good so far, haven't finished it, also haven't started their remake of Catch-22 and I'm not sure if the season is done yet.
If you never watch the Fargo series you should
If you like raunchy comedies then It's Always Sunny is a blast, normal sitcoms with complete runs in my list are Atlanta (more like a dramedy) Blackish, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and Superstore.
Preacher is another strange one, but you might like it depending on your tastes this is a minor spoiler but two of my favorite scenes:

(14,275 posts)Seinfeld simply talks comedy and career while he takes comedians to diners in classic cars. It's interesting to see comedians chat when they are off the clock and they let their persona drop (although Colleen Ballinger didn't get the memo). For a few like Jerry Lewis and Bob Eisenberg it's the last time we have the pleasure of seeing them on film.

(8,854 posts)It's about a high school football coach and his family dealing with the football-obsessed residents of the fictional town of Dillon, Texas.
I don't care about football AT ALL and care even less about high school football but I was riveted by this show. I think it's available on Netflix.

Fringe (like the Xfiles but ten times better)
Stargate SG-1 or Atlantis
Dead Like Me
on netflix:
Russian Doll
Lost in Space (no really)
Penny Dreadful (first two seasons only)
Salviati
(6,008 posts)Some great sci-fi, glad it got saved from cancellation by Amazon.
Also, another recommendation is Person of Interest (on Netflix). It starts out seeming like a regular procedural with a unique gimmick, but evolves into a lot more.
qazplm135
(7,447 posts)but it is HARD scifi so I avoided listing it for that reason.

(10,279 posts)to fight for his country in WWII. He almost gets into a military job, but cruel fate spoils the opportunity. Instead, he is coerced into continuing as a policeman. Surprisingly so, crime does not take a holiday because of the war. Instead, the variety of crime increases. Besides viewing some brilliant British detective work, you will see period clothing, cars, factories, and culture being stretched to the breaking point.

(7,715 posts)Yes, I know it is rude to shout in all caps, but that's what I'm doing!
Brilliant 3 year series from the UK's Channel 4 about three Irish priests banished by their bishop to a remote Irish island. It's insane and funny and touching all at the same time.
If you have nothing else to do this weekend, you can probably watch the entire run of the show.
Available on YouTube and Prime.
