famished travelers have traveled through town watching the slow building of a new Popeye's. We already have the Colonel, the King, 3 McD's and Wendy's. Oh, and a Taco Bell.
A few BBQ joints and a ton of Chinese takeout rounds out the chicken on the run. Oh, and don't forget the rotisserie chickens every supermarket has these days.
Now, out and out my favorite chicken joint was Bojangles, but they seem to have gone to the same happy resting place Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips went.
The Colonel hasn't been doing too well lately. the place has been pretty much empty, even tough you could get a fair lunch for 5 bucks every day. But who knew this town was starved for fried chicken, and the Colonel just wasn't cutting it?
Passed by there around PM tonite and the drivethrough lane was stretched out onto the highway, causing a small traffic jam. I managed to park in a loading zone and walked into a madhouse. Took about 45 minutes to get my food and get out of there. This "fast, my ass" experience was not the fault of the store or its people, just overwhelming demand.
Oh, the chicken? It was OK. 10 bucks for 4 pieces, a biscuit, a side, and a soda did seem a little steep, though. 5-6 bucks at the local supermarkets for a 3 pound rotisserie chicken is a much better deal.

(5,176 posts)I hardly ever get their chicken.
The catfish is eaten right away. The livers cover 3 to 4 suppers at work, in my divided covered plate.

(1,375 posts)Three piece are only 170 calories, 2 carbs, and 26 grams of protein. This makes them keto and diabetic friendly, just be smart while choosing sides and throw the biscuit in the trash!
For comparison, here are regular breaded tenders

(6,115 posts)At least, they seem to be thriving around here - the Carolinas, TN, etc. I can't remember ever seeing an abandoned Bojangles.
