Yeah, I'm a Giants fan. SF is the city of my birth.
The Giants had a bad first half season. But their bats are heating up
and the pitching is coming around.

(25,816 posts)I remember the '89 Series--cross bay. I'll be damned if I can think of the
names of Oakland's first two starting pitchers but they were both 20+
game winners. Oakland won the first two games and the series moved
to SF. Then the earthquake came. A bad one. People ran onto the field.
There was a lot of damage. The series was delayed a week to make an engineering
analysis of the stadium. By then, the two ace pitchers for Oakland were rested up
and won the next two games. Damn.

(33,643 posts)I remember that series well, I was away at school in SLO, but was watching the game when it happened. The Town took the worst of it with the collapse of double-decker freeway ...
Dave "Stew" Stewart and Mike Moore ... not to bring back bad memories.
Our team was badass that year though man ... 'roided out, I'm sure, but ... so was everyone.

(33,643 posts)Even then we'll still be 8-2 in our last 10 ... but also 16-4 in our last 20 which is pretty sweet ...

(3,622 posts)A special award for attending night games at Candlestick Park. I think it was called the "Croix de Candlestick"
I can't remember attending a single nighy game when it wasn't windy, foggy and cold.
Day games were better, but night games were bundle-ups...
Go Giants!!!

(3,252 posts)When the Giants were 31-41, I was wondering how the Giants' record was even that good, since their playing seemed even worse than that.
The Giants have been rumored to be offering Bumgarner. Now that they've heated up, I wonder if they will still trade him.

(33,643 posts)went yard TWICE in the game. Might've been the D-backs home opener, come to think of it. Pretty sure two homers by a pitcher in one game was a historic occasion ... not unheard of, but very rare.
Needless to say ... wife and I were rooting for the Giants, despite living in this god-forsaken Valley.
