I am in possession of some electronic equipment that fell off the back of a truck. Ideas? 😏

(17,984 posts)Went over with my sister for some reason, probably checking on the dogs. My sister told me to touch the fence. She assured me it was just a little shock. Of course I did, and it wasn't a little shock; it was a BIG shock. Turned out that my sister didn't know what she was talking about. She wanted to find out what it was like to touch an electric fence without having to touch an electric fence, so I was the guinea pig.
Bad sister!

(34,137 posts)The horses would flip the wire up with their noses and walk right under the wire so I figured it was not powered. I went out to pick up the wire so the horses wouldn't tangle around their legs - it was VERY LIVE and shocked the heck out of me!
I never figured out if the horses had just developed a tolerance or what the deal was - horse's noses are very sensitive so when they touched the wire to flip it up, it should have shocked them. Or when the wire dragged across their backs as they strolled under it.
Now most electric fencing made for horses is high visibility, unlike that old thin wire. Horses are smart enough that if they get shocked, they may never test it again. We had one paddock that we ran a high visibility electric fence along to keep the stallion away from the fence. He got shocked once or twice and never touched it again, even when the power box went bad and it was no longer charged.
