(57,573 posts)the ice cream I buy doesn't have seals. Or, didn't, as I can't digest ice cream too well, so I don't buy it that often. Also, it melts on the way home in this weather.

Probably not noticeable by the average family throwing a gallon of ice cream in their fridge.
There should be plastic seals.

(5,529 posts)What is needed for freshness is not always the same as what is needed to guarantee sanitary conditions. At the very least, it seems like they would need to put some kind of wrap or sticker that showed it was not opened since it was packaged.

(11,601 posts)Now that this has gone viral how many other sickos out there will want to do the same?
We'll probably wind up with even more plastic packaging now.

(24,026 posts)...I am more than a little germ aware, and fairly easily grossed out.
At a health club we not longer belong to, I saw a different woman sit down on one of the wooden benches in the locker room while totally stalkers. No towel under her bare ass, nothing. Creepy for 2 reasons - she had no idea about whether or not someone else might have done the same thing before she sat there, and no one else who sat there after her would know that she had done that.
Yuck, yuck, yuck!

(7,646 posts)I won't purchase it.
Sometime after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, I noticed an increase of food items that started to have protective seals on them that previously didn't have them before.
I was looking at ice cream and noticed that Edy's Ice Cream didn't have these seals. I had emailed Edy's and let them know that they should start putting protective seals on their ice cream containers and what the valid reasons were. They replied to me and pointed out what products they had that had protective seals on them. To this day, Edy's still doesn't put a protective seal on their regular ice cream containers.
This is the food that we buy and eat. It should come with a protection seal and unsanitary people like this woman in the video is another valid reason why we need them. Gross!

(55,019 posts)right? I don't disagree that a seal helps somewhat but I hope people don't think it is some kind of perfect protection.
I very aware gross and horrifying things can happen in the food manufacturing business.
It's just nice to know that food that's sitting in the store is protected from "consumers" who want to lick it and put it back on the shelf.
