Billy Drago, best known for his work playing Al Capone's top henchman in The Untouchables, died Monday in Los Angeles, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 73.
Drago appeared in numerous films and TV shows over the years, including X-Files and Charmed, but he was most recognized for portraying real-life mobster Frank Nitti (always wearing a white suit) in the Brian De Palma 1987 classic.
At the time, THR's review of The Untouchables noted, "Also deserving praise on the bad guy's side is Billy Drago as the psycho, trigger-happy Frank Nitti his mean and vicious glint is razor sharp." The character had a memorable rooftop demise at the hands of Eliot Ness, who was played by Kevin Costner.
Drago's career spanned four decades, and he appeared in over 100 films, including Clint Eastwood's classic Western Pale Rider (1985).

(34,112 posts)He was so good!
Last I heard he was living in Wichita, Kansas where his son lives. His son is Darren Burrows who played Ed Chigliak in Northern Exposure. This could be old info however, just from what I knew a while back.
RIP Billy Drago and thanks for all the wonderful characters you brought to us.

Delta Force 2 (also known as Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection and Delta Force 2: Operation Stranglehold) is a 1990 American action film, and a sequel to the 1986 Chuck Norris film The Delta Force, also starring Norris as Major Scott McCoy. In this film, McCoy leads his Delta team into the fictional South American country of San Carlos to rescue hostages and stop the flow of cocaine into the United States.
Delta Force 2 was disliked by critics for sparse connections to its predecessor, a clichéd script, subpar acting, and similarities to the earlier Norris vehicle Missing in Action.
....
Plot
Ramon Cota (Billy Drago) is a wealthy and powerful drug kingpin who controls the cocaine industry with an iron fist. His drugs pour steadily into America, corrupting the country's youth and causing a feud between the DEA and San Carlos, Cota's country of origin.

It made for a good career, at least. And he must have had some fun with it. He was on a TV show once called "The Adventures Of Brisco County, Jr." playing an Old West art thief. He and another scruffy-looking outlaw type got into a very erudite discussion about impressionism and other painting styles. It was hilariously incongruous.
