On this day in 1965:

I just happened to recall this picture. If you were to stand at this spot today, you'd be on Metrorail right-of-way.

The picture was taken at about 8:30 a.m. The passenger train, the George Washington, is headed north. It's coming from Cincinnati. It's headed for DC.

I rode it a few times. It was a nice train.

Earlier I was at work on my mobile data, which is very short this month.

I used to collect glass telephone and telegraph insulators so I spent a lot of time walking local railroads looking for them. There's probably still many undiscovered ones along the right-of-ways in the tall grass.
