I just got a job offer--laying block starting on Tuesday.

I'm 68 so it will be a challenge. But I have a reputation to defend.
In my day, no mason beat me down the wall. However, that was
several years ago.
Still, it was nice to be called up and wanted.
I will gather up all of my tools tomorrow and be on the job at 6am Tuesday.

I have lots of scaffold for sale.

Now keep your mud a good consistency and lay to the line!

I hope it's regular 8x8x16 and not those monster blocks.

We ain't spring chickens anymore, ya know (71 now). I worked very hot jobs for many years but no way I could risk that now with potential heart issues and some back trouble.

Maybe consider a back brace, some Gatorade and water, cool clothes and good boots. I carried a wet washcloth in a ziplock bag to help cool down on break.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing......

Although you may feel as fit as you were a few years ago, you've been away from your work. Take it slow and don't overdo the first couple of days. Let your body get used to the manual labor once more.

But kudo to you for jumping back in.

I wish you great success with this - I "pay" for a day of yard work the next morning, and I'm a year younger.
