(8,144 posts)This is a wonderful posting anyway. But...
Before my 90 year old mom passed two years ago, she was giving small amounts to way too many charities. I had to rather caution her on that. I tried to head her in the right direction of just a few.
Well, shed say, alright, but I really do want to save the donkeys!
It was kind of a joke at her memorial when I told people in lieu of gifts to donate to a dog shelter I had chosen because I just couldnt be sure any of her donkey charities were credible. Many were out of the country, so difficult to know.
Her dear friend said well, there aren't any credible ones for donkeys.
This one is Longhopes and I think they sound good!

(13,776 posts)I heard about it from a friend who travels the world (shes a filmmaker who specializes in social justice, so shes been in some pretty economically depressed areas) and this is a charity she encourages donations to, to help take care of donkeys whose working lives are over.
P.S. Your mom sounds like a sweetheart!

(3,065 posts)But maybe she should find a position in the field that pays.
A hostess with no formal education. Never even worked at a vet's office?
I wonder who's paying her bills?
She's just hanging out at this place cleaning up horse shit for free.
Cute donkey. It will survive without her.
