post offices prices are heading in the direction of UPS rates. sheesh.

wanted to mail a coffee mug in a cube shaped box with a bit of bubble wrap and the cost was $15.00! the mug only cost $10, a hawaii souvenir mug for a friend on the mainland. it is possible a mug will fit in the $14.50 flat rate box but packaging a mug in that would be a tad iffy

That she left at her old address. Box was a few pounds, I'd say maybe 2 or 3 lbs if that .Box was about 12x12. Her new address is about 25 miles from mine. Wasn't able take it to her myself, hence forth a trip to the post office. Thought it would only be a couple of bucks since one could drive the distance in about 45 minutes. Price to send was 11.50. I paid the man and left. Boy did the expletives start to come from mouth once I got outside. Anyone within hearing distance heard me that day.

USPS rates are increasing, but for the most part they are cheaper than UPS, and most priority mail packages get anywhere in the US in 2 days, sometimes 3. Yes, larger packages cost less via UPS, but across the country is a week, so there’s a trade-off.

Flat rate packages don’t generally work for the stuff I ship, and the rates for the medium and large flat rate boxes are higher than if you provided your own box.
