So I banged up the front left bumper of my leased car...

I hit a steel barrier but once I backed the car off of it, I could drive it home, no problem.

My question (before I see the leasing car company I got it from) is what happens when the car is leased? I'm sure car companies have seen this happen before...

1. You need to file an insurance claim with your insurance carrier.

Unless your lease agreement carries an insurance policy to cover scrapes etc. My son has that on his Fiat - costs a little extra a month but covers up to $5000 in damage when the car is surrendered at the end of the lease.

4. You would handle it just as you would a car you owned.

You have insurance come out as estimate what they will pay to get the car repaired. Will probably suggest a repair shop that does business with them. You'll have to pay any deductible, so if repair is $2500 and you have a $1000 deductible, you'll have to pay the $1000.

Now if you owned the car you would have the option of whether or not you wanted to get the car repaired. It would be up to you.

Will be interesting to see what the Auto Dealership has to say. If they have a body shop on premises they may do the repair, working with your insurance company.

8. A car that has and has not been paid off. I had a minor incident before I paid off the loan.

Ir was up to me to file the insurance claim, the adjuster came out, looked at it, referred me to a couple of auto body repair places. For the most part the insurance paid the bill, except for the deductible. Bank, mortgage company had no involvement.

asap. Have your details at hand as well as any Pictures. Had a hail damage on one of our Leaser's a few years back. Our Insurance Carrier had upgraded our Policy to cover this situation since a Lease is similiar to any Vehicle carrying a lien and the probabilities of repair claims are higher on Lease equipment. Just the nature of the beast.

Sad to say, those bumper covers are not cheap.

Vehicle Insurance info Card with you or get that Policy number. The Estimator can use his Estimator Software to find your exact Policy and Coverage . Never forget to ask about the Cash Price if you have a large deductible.

And btw, treat yourself after leaving the Repair shop. And good luck.

accident. First off,you have insurance and you did not pick up a ticket. Secondly, you yourself did not receive any injuries other than your pride, just hit the Cold Stone Store after wards.

Bad moods do go away.

In the mean time,Cold Stone seems to be a good attitude adjuster or pacifier.

I already turned the vehicle in and didn't even mention it to Nissan.
