I'l start. I lost four or five pounds from being sick to my stomach for several days. After that I just didn't eat (much) on the days that I had gained back any weight in the morning. By not eating much I mean skipping breakfast, having a yogurt for lunch and skipping or skimping on supper. It works well enough that I've now lost 8 pounds.

Ferrets are Cool
(21,106 posts)I have been utilizing the 5-2 fasting diet for two years now. It has been very good to me.
YMMV though.

(13,905 posts)I expended a lot of calories while I worked so the weight just came off. I ate A LOT of food but the veggies had a low caloric density so the weight came down. That was including drinking beer!!! .

(22,252 posts)I lost 65 pounds in 2005-2006 and am still at goal weight. The current version of the food tracking system is the best one yet and there are so many healthy and delicious foods which do not add to your point count. l
When you make your lifetime goal, you are a free member with bonus on line tools as long as you stay under goal.
I had been trying to get that weight off for a long time, and this is what worked. It's a very healthy plan highly recommended by physicians.
There are no forbidden foods; you just have to account for them and the tools are so user friendly that it is really easy to keep track.

(34,136 posts)But in order to get my weight down - which I had to get my spinal fusion surgery - I first started cutting calories way down. I kept track with MyFitnessPal.com food diary. While I normally eat pretty healthy, with lots of vegetables & fruits and moderate meats, I found I was eating too many carbs, mostly bread.
I lost thirty pounds just by cutting back, then I plateau'd so I read up on Adkins diets and cut back my carbs - not as much as Adkins recommends but to a third of what I had been eating. I lost the weight and had my surgery just over two weeks ago.
Now I am holding steady for now. I am not at my ideal weight but while I am healing and beginning to exercise again I don't want to cut my nutrients too much. My plan is to try to hold at my current weight during the rest of my recovery (three months) and during my trip to Britain. In Britain my husband and I plan a lot of hiking, bird watching and of course sightseeing so if I am reasonable in what I eat I shouldn't have a problem keeping at my current weight.
When we get home I will go back on a restricted calorie diet and try to lose another 65 pounds. Then I will be at a much better weight and will see if I can hold that for the rest of my life!
