I found it interesting because I've been taking my cat to the Vet's quite often and picking up medicine for him.

Right next to the Vet's is a church with a Fallout Shelter sign.

I remembered your OP and snagged a photo, although it's not the best quality.

2. Somewhere I keep a list

of all these signs that I see on T.V. or movies. I've lost my list and the only movie that I remember that has one in it is "The Man Who Fell to Earth"

3. I live in an elementary school

built in 1921, converted to condos in 1988. The fallout shelter is still by the original front door, pretty much unnoticed

5. I didn't pay much attention to it

when I moved in, then when MF45 was elected I mentioned to the owner of that unit that we would all be coming down there when MF45 started a nuclear war.

Thank you for sharing these pictures of the fallout shelter sign. I think it's noticeable on the building.

That door was the front entrance when this was a school. It faces the street. Now, it's locked most of the time, as one of the side doors became the mainly-used entrance to be more convenient to the garages and parking lot. So we don't use the front yard much.

The sign is in very good condition, and it's one of the remaining things from the original school. The recess-bell is unplugged, but still attached to the ledge under one of my windows. A couple of the fire escapes are now small balconies. Some people here don't pay attention to things like that, but to me it's part of what makes living in an older repurposed building interesting.
