Has everyone said "rabbit" yet...?

...in our family, in my Mom's family, in *her* Mom's family, as far back as we can trace it...we've always said "rabbit" the first day of the month. Brings you luck, supposedly. I'm 13th generation CT Yankee, and just learned recently that this is a very ancient British folk tradition, going way back into pagan days. Which frankly I find incredibly cool. I told an antiquarian once about it, and he was amazed that it still exists in the US. So: say rabbit, and have a good April...and May...and June...

and then assumed that their success and good fortune was providence.

I don't think they ever realized it was because someone in the family was secretly saying rabbit on the first of each month. I sure didn't. Both seem crazy to me, but hey, I'm a black sheep.
