"an Organ Recital." Yay! I am actually in pretty decent shape for an old man, but have a cataract that needs attention soon.

(28,946 posts)Most of us were fortunate to make it as far as we did before our social life turned into just medical appointments.
Hysterectomy (cancer), both hip joints replaced, gall badder removed, borderline high blood pressure, mild COPD.
Hubby: Overweight, triple by pass, knee replacement and the other one in his future.

(9,275 posts)Im really in pretty good shape for my age (62) given I could sure lose some weight and I dont exercise. Just mild hypertension controlled with 1 med.
Husband: Hypertension (3 meds), Crohns, arthritis (will need knee replacement eventually), asthma, rosacea. His dad and brother both died of heart attacks so hes very vigilant about doctor visits and taking his many pills.

Oh - and that does not count the dental work done, either.

(34,139 posts)So I can zoom in on my delicate needlework. It's getting so the magnifying glasses are not doing the job anymore. I've thought about getting the kind of loupe thing jewelers or my dentist use. They now have those with LED lights to light right where you're looking!

(28,946 posts)I loved to embroider, but thanks to the eyes getting worse, not anymore. *Sigh.

(34,139 posts)But I can no longer stitch on 50 count silk gauze. I have a project I plan to start on 32 count linen - blackwork which will be 1 stitch to 2 threads so effectively 16 count. I'm saving my stash of 14 and 18 count painted canvases to work on when I can no longer do fine work.
sarge43
(28,946 posts)That's out of the question now.

(27,843 posts)My friend (late 50s, and it was congenital) had to have a heart valve replaced, being out of breath was one of her symptoms. All went well, I'm happy to report.

(9,581 posts)But here goes
bi-lat mastectomy due to breast cancer
fractured ankle surgery with a metal plate, to which I am allergic - constant redness, itching still after 9 years
Reactive lung disease - it's not COPD exactly, but mostly the same symptoms
heart failure & coronary artery disease
obesity

Foot surgery when I was 30 something
Cataract Surgery, a few years back.
That's all I've got. Anything else that's happened, I've managed to take care of, on my own.

(4,671 posts)(no, I don't put pregnancies in the same category as illnesses), both hips replaced, one knee and one shoulder replaced, dental implant work that lasted forever.
Worse thing was something they suspected was flesh-eating bacteria that invaded the bottom half of my face and had me in ICU a while, but turned out to be a lesser evil and didn't kill me.
I ran a 5k on Sunday. When you're in the 70+ category, there is little competition.
