The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHey everybody, what kind of socks are you wearing today?
I'm thinking we should dig way back in the drawer and find some we haven't worn in two, three or even six years. Mine are old and white. I am a geezer and can get away with that. Hell, I can wear black socks with sandals if I've a mind to. I don't know why socks are so much on my mind since last night.

company donates a pair to shelters, etc. Over 18 million so far.

(10,885 posts)In a burst of organization, I pulled out my sock drawer last week, dumped it on the floor and sorted, rematched, or tossed. I knew there had to be at least twenty pairs of black socks in there somewhere, but they always eluded me when they were needed. A-a-a-a-nd, there they were! Some that I had worn over and over needed to be delinted and defuzzed, so out came the lint brush and a mildly dull razor.
It's amazing how an organized sock drawer can make you happy! (I lead such an exciting life...)

I meet old friends from years ago and they often want to check my socks.
They are pleased to see I haven't changed.
Croney
(4,672 posts)and I wore them out. Apparently they are extinct in this particular sock. They're partly bamboo, so I just ordered two styles on eBay that look similar.
I have two full sock drawers because I always say "socks" when asked what I'd like as a gift. But none have pleased me like the Cole Haans.
I feel like Mr. Pitt.

(24,072 posts)I find most socks are cut way too tight. I have what I think most people would consider normal circumference legs for an adult woman. most socks look as if they are made for the slender legs of 8 yr olds. Stranglingly tight.

(11,365 posts)It says "ultimax" on the side of each sock. They're probably about 10 years old - super hard-wearing socks that stay up in my boots. I re-found this pair last year when I reorganized the sock drawer.

(4,645 posts)I hate wearing socks. Had to put some on for a supposedly 18 min. walk to the store ... which turned into a 3 hour hoof around town because the GPS on my phone is either haunted or smoking crack. Maybe both.
They were black cotton Hanes footie socks.
Now that my feet are breathing again and I've been rehydrated (lots of hills in this town), I'm glad for the exercise. It was a little chilly, but Spring has almost arrived!

(37,648 posts)I love socks and have them in TWO chest drawers, grouped by main color. I have lots of whites and blacks, of course. But also navy blue, royal blue, orange (some Halloween), multi-black&red&white (mainly Christmas), brown, purple, violet, burgundy, greens (dark, camo, lime, mint), lavender, red, pinks, and I think one pair of beige (I hate beige...they must have come in a multi-pack).

Perfect work socks to wear with black pants and a pale peach shirt.
Which reminds me, I have to go on amazon and see if I can find some more kitty socks. I think my grandkids are stealing them.
As spouse says, a single sock is the larval form of clothes hangers. Everytime we lose a sock, we gain a clothes hanger...
