I made some tuna salad yesterday. We only had chunk light tuna in the house, which my guy doesn't care for.
Last night he decided to have a sandwich anyway.
BUT.... he added about 4 times the amount of mayo to the tuna than I had put in.
!!!!!!!!!!!
Honey, if you want more mayo, PUT IT ON YOUR sandwich.
I have no interest in eating a mayonnaise soup sandwich.

(354 posts)They know exactly the ratio to use. Even one more spoonful of mayo is too much.

(38,559 posts)I've even worked at sub shops where they add so much mayo that I won't eat it.
You can always smear some mayo on the bread if you want more mayo. Once you add the mayo to the tuna or eggs, you cannot take it out.
The Truth Is Here
(354 posts)I'm the same way with egg salad..
Both has to be just right for me to eat it.
But I absolutely hate potato salad. I love potatoes in general, but this is the only form of potato that I don't like. At. All.

(34,136 posts)That how we do it here. My husband likes Miracle Whip while I like mayo. It's nasty if we eat the other's tuna salad.

(67,108 posts)Actually, it was a bit disgusting. I love mayonnaise too, but in the tuna.

(26,263 posts)I like Albacore for tuna mayo sandwiches and salads (with coarse chopped dill pickles, never sweet relish!), and chunk light (in water) for casseroles. For me, it's a texture thing. Cooking tuna softens and blends the flavors, anyway, so why use the more subtle, expensive type.
And just enough mayo, in the mix, to hold things together, in those salads and sandwiches.

(38,559 posts)but it just bugs me that he ruined the tuna salad for me. I certainly won't eat it now, and I made it for myself using stuff he doesn't much care for.
That's just wrong and insensitive.

(26,263 posts)Can you open another can and make it more suitable? Leftovers aren't such a bad thing. I'd boil up some macaroni and make a side salad!
MissMillie
(38,559 posts)Instead, I'm going to let him eat it. But I am going to tell him that he ruined it for me.

(9,265 posts)Getting the tuna smell on my fingers puts my stomach off. A tuna hoagie from the local pizza place (tuna, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions) is simply divine. And (as my hips will attest) the more mayo the better.

(2,404 posts)... the red tuna makes me feel horny. The white tuna, not so much. It remains a mystery.

(12,842 posts)Will not eat tuna I make as I go overboard on mayonnaise sorry your tuna was ruined but you made me smile.

(38,559 posts)So I've learned to add little or no salt to everything I make. I figure if I want more, I can add it at the table.
He really could have just taken what he was going to eat and added mayo to THAT.

(38,559 posts)His intent was to finish the tuna salad, but as it turns out he put so much mayo in it that even he didn't want to eat it.
